    Can you differentiate (Masculine مذكر Muthakkar) from (Feminine مؤنث Mu’annath) using this rule?

    • Happy Sa’aeedah سعيدة.(M or F?).

    I see why you’re confused..you see, the last word can give diffierent meanings and that’s probably what you’ve been getting..

    I came : ُأتيت ‘Atayt(u) .

    • غزوت ghazot(u) [meanings; invade, infest, overrun, foray, pervade, maraud].
    • إنتصرتُ ‘IntaSart(u) [meanings; win. triumph. conquer. prevail. palm. overbear].
    • إحتليتُ ‘IHtalayt(u) [meanings; occupy. take. conquer. overrun. take up. squat].
    • إنتزعتُ ‘Intaza’at(u) [meanings; tear. grab. extract. snatch. wrest. conquer].
    • قهرتُ qahart(u) [meanings; overcome. defeat. vanquish. subdue. beat].
    • أخضعتُ ‘akhdh’at(u) [meanings; subject. undergo. submit. hew. succumb. conquer].
    • فتحتُ fataHt(u) [meanings; open. unlock. conquer. unblock. turn on. unseal].

    Remember the rules- and the rules are simple- it must be: plural / masculine / verb.

    e.g: ذهب/went left, becomes ذهبوا. in these examples I’ll put words in sentences and you’ll say right or wrong and why.

    • خرج. الرجال خرجـوا اليوم.|went out: the men went out today.
    • درس. البنات درسـوا الإمتحان.| studied: the girls studied the exam.
    • جلس. الشباب جلسـو متحلقين.| sat: the guys sat in circles.
    • يدعو. يدعـوا أحمد بصدق.| prays: Ahmad prays in honesty.
    • اذهب. اذهبـوا للقائهم.| go: go meet them.
    • اخرج. اخرجـوا طعامكم.| take out: take out your foods.
    • لن يسمع: الجهلة لن يسمعـوا لكم.|wont listen: the ignorants will not listen to you.
    • لم ينم. الكبار لم ينامـوا .| did not sleep: the elderlies didn’t sleep.

    Why we don’t add alif al fariqah to:

    1.واو الأصل\ waw al aSl\ the original waw: the reason why we don’t add it here, is that in these two examples يدعو or يسمو. the waw is originally in the verb, if we delete the waw the verb is broken and no longer means anything; يدعو becomes يدع which isn’t right, يسمو becomes يسم which means a different thing. etc while in waw al jama’ah we can remove the waw and the verb maintain solid, e.g: فعلوا without the waw فعل, and خرجوا without the waw is خرج.

    2.واو جمع المذكر السالم \waw jama’ muthakkar salim\the plural form of a masculine noun. to explain the difference between واو الجماعة waw al jama’ah and waw jama’ muthakkar salim is that waw al jama’ah comes with verbs . and waw ( the plural form of a masculine noun) comes with nouns .

    * This is one of the most c ommon misspellings among all, people always get confused when to add alif al fariqah, they either add it to everything even to jam’a muthakkar salim (when they shouldn’t), or don’t add it at all when the should.

    Test on the subject Alif AlMaqSurah and Alif AlMamdodah ( 1 /2 ) ;

    e.g: مرحباً اسمي. رب(ـا\ى) رُبى. Hello my name is Ruba. and yes, that is my name 🙂

    • مرتضـ(ـا/ـى) name:Murtada.
    • علـ(ـا/ـى) verb: متواضع، مهما علـ؟ :Humbled, no matter how high he rose.
    • قضاي(ـا/ـى) noun: Cases.
    • عل(ـا/ـى)preposition: On, ضع القلم علـ؟ الطاولة:Put the pen on the table.
    • سلم(ـا/ـى) name:Salma.
    • ايطالي(ـا/ـى) country:Italy.
    • سندريل(ـا/ـى) name:Cinderella.
    • رج(ـا/ـى)verb: رجـ؟ العون منك: hoped some help from you.
    • زكري(ـا/ـى) name.:Zakariya.
    • مرايـ(ـا\ى) noun: Mirrors.
    • صح(ـا/ـى) verb:woke up. صحـ؟ باكراً: woke up early.
    • إلـ(ـا/ـى)preposition:To. إذهب إلـ؟ بيتك: go to your house.
    • ادّع(ـا/ـى)verb:Claimed. ادّعـ؟ أنه غادر: he claimed he left.
    • حت(ـا/ـى) conjunction:even. جميعنا حتـ؟ ريما: all of us even Reema.
    • بلو(ـا/ـى)noun:sorrow.
    • إلّ(ـا/ـى) but/except. كلنا إلـ؟ ريما: all of us except Reema.
    • بر(ـا/ـى)verb:cured/heal: بر؟ من جرحه:Recovered from his wound.
    • سيبيري(ـا/ـى)country:Siberia.
    • نجو(ـا/ـى)name:Najwa.
    • إل(ـا/ـى) To/till: من مكة إلـ؟ المدينة :from Mecca to/till Medina.
    • مستشف(ـا/ـى)noun:Hospital.
    • جر(ـا/ـى)verb: Happen/occur. ماذا جر؟. what happened?
    • سق(ـا/ـى)verb:Quench/watered. سقـ؟ النبات: watered the planet.
    • حت(ـا/ـى) until: نمت حتـ؟ الفجر: slept until down.
    • عد(ـا/ـى)except: جميعهم ما عد؟ هذا:all of them except this one.
    • قرب(ـا/ـى)noun:kinship.
    • قض(ـا/ـى)verb:execute/spend.
    • زواي(ـا/ـى)noun:Angles.
    • قف(ـا/ـى)noun:Back.
    • نيقولـ(ـا/ـى name:Nicholas.
    • ديانـ(ـا/ـى) name: Diana.
    • كوريـ(ـا/ـى)country: Korea.
    • تركيـ(ـا/ـى) country:Turkey.
    • ألـ(ـا/ـى) if not. ألـ؟ نفلح فقد هلكنا: if not we succeed we’re doomed.
    • انتهـ(ـا\ى) verb: end/finished.

    *With all this being said and explained and tested, if you don’t do very will and you still make mistakes on alif al maqSurah and mamdodah..I’ll ask you not to worry because this is the hardest misspell in Arabic, and the only way to master this is by reading and writing and making mistakes. Don’t give up 😉

    In short: Verbs that have more than 3 letters usually-but not always- have alif maqsorah .
    Verbs that have 3 letters are divided into two groups where the origin of the alif is either و or ي and to know that you have to form the masculine present tense of the verb. if it ends with و you have to write the alif mamdodah. and if it ends with ي you have to write the alif maqsorah.

    Can you believe it? I certainly can’t!
