The visuals combine a mixture of fantastical and mundane scenarios of suffocation. They are accompanied by the artist’s retelling of her own near death experience. Christine A. Banna is a multidisciplinary artist who pulls from both modern and traditional methods such as painting, drawing, video, sound, and animation in her practice. Born in Providence, RI, Banna grew up with a deep love of ancient history and science which has been a driving force for her since she was a young girl. This dichotomy between ancient and modern is reflected in both Banna’s subject matter and artistic method. Banna is currently a MFA candidate in the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Justice’s artistic approach and inquiries are rooted in her personal experiences with immigration. Justice was born in Brazil, and currently lives and works in the Boston area. She received her B.F.A. Summa Cum Laude from The Art Institute of Boston in 2001, and was the recipient of the Senior Award for Outstanding and Distinguished Accomplishment in Fine Arts.

The change that Cohen has been documenting is a growing disinterest of gay men only wanting to interact and be social in nighttime environments, such as bars and clubs. Instead of new night-life venues, a growing number of sports leagues and other extracurricular activity groups have drawn the attention of this community. He primarily shoots in 16mm and his film have screened at the Museum of Fine Art, Boston as well as various small venues in New York City. Night School is about girl gangs versus boy gangs. It explores gender relations through a juvenile lens in an attempt to complicate the topic by placing the audience in an uncomfortable voyeuristic situation. Image: Night School (still).

Artificial nature pares with the domestic as a source for play and embodiment. Rebecca Williams was born and raised in Connecticut. As a multidisciplinary artist, her work focuses on fictional and nonfictional representations of the female nude figure through performance, video, sculpture, installation, and photography. Using humor through farce, satire, and the absurd, Williams addresses the oddities and discomforts of gender, sexuality, and identity formation. She situates herself in public and private environments to inspect the corollaries between historic representation and biological spectacle. Williams is a current MFA Candidate at Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. She received her BA in Visual Arts from Fordham University. “The Cyclorama Show: Master of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibition, SMFA, Boston” The Cyclorama at the Boston Center for the Arts, 539 Tremont St, Boston, MA 02116 May 13-18, 2014 Reception: May 17, 7:30 pm Using the power of art and history to shape culture and social action, Lydia A. Harris is creating a visual arts project (book and video) about the citizens of Collier Heights, a historically black neighborhood of Atlanta, GA. She tells the story of a neighborhood that has nurtured its children since the late 1950s so “that they did not end up hating people, themselves, or their own blackness.” Harris is an award-winning photographer whose work has been shown at the Photographic Resource Center (Boston, MA), September 3-October 12, 2013 and in a solo exhibition at the Firehouse Center for the Arts Gallery (Newburyport, MA) in September 2012. “Ephemera” featured images from her series Finding Beauty Through Fear and Take Me With You. In 2011 she was the featured artist on Northeast Online (NEO), a monthly one-person, web-based exhibition presented by Boston’s Photographic Resource Center. Additionally, her work has been seen in The Light Factory’s “4th Juried Annual” (Charlotte, NC) and UMaine Museum of Art Photo National 2011 (Bangor, ME) for which her piece “Hendrie” received the Director’s Purchase award and is now in their permanent collection. Her image “Jacob” won best photography and best in show at the Newburyport Art Association’s 15th Annual Regional Show. Harris received a Professional Certificate in Photography from Maine Media College in 2010, and is currently pursuing an MFA at the School at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Art and Art History with departmental Honors from Dickinson College, in 2008, and has worked as an art handler, antique gallery attendant, and artist assistant. He resides in Brookline, MA with his cat and multitudes of found objects. Aiming to reframe the historical past through the lens of the present, the negotiation taps into multisensory understandings of cultures, the varied approaches to sites of memory, and the natural in-between placement for a human being. Isurin was born in the former USSR and has accompanied her family on two immigrations prior to arriving in America. She has lived on three continents and her work has been show on two. Isurin holds a BFA from The Ohio State University. Isurin’s Cyclorama project would utilized the building’s air ducts. “When radiators are not working properly some parts of the room will be colder than others. It is essential that the air be able to flow freely over, under, and around each radiator. Radiators should never be allowed to accumulate layers of dust or lint.
