General Learning outcomes
Generally, WU learning outcomes are classified in four groups: research competence, thesis report, colloquium, and examination.
More particularly, learning outcomes as formulated by AEW are:
- explore the issue by way of studying relevant literature
- critically studying literature
- formulate a theoretical framework
- delineate the study problem
- design an investigation strategy
- realistically plan all research activities
- collect empirical research data through experiments, measurements, observations, interviews or literature
- efficiently evaluate (large) data sets also with models and statistics
- evaluate quantitative results with error propagation
- relate observations for your own theoretical framework
- draw conclusions
- formulate your personal opinion in your research
- assess the research from the broader perspective
- discuss data and results throughout a thesis
- discuss problems faced throughout the thesis
- most probably for suggestions from supervisor(s) and/or any other students
- accept and cope with critique
- write an investigation report or perhaps a draft scientific paper
- structure the report or paper (will the title cover the information, would be the different chapters in compliance using their importance, existence of readable summary)

General set-from a thesis
The entire period allocated to a thesis could be split into 3 phases: proposal writing, performing the study and thesis writing.
Different activities will occur with various products for that phases (Table 2).
Table 2: Different phases within the MSc with activities and merchandise.
Including reputation of problem, condition from the art according scientific literature, scientific social relevance, Formulation of research questions and ideas that have to follow along with logically in the previous parts
Description of accessible data, fieldsites models that’ll be used, style of field inventory, style of experiments, modelling activities, Description of record techniques to evaluate data
Per week to week planning, associated with the study activities and research questions
Performing the study
After writing the proposal, the sensible work starts (field work, modelling, experiment). Data is going to be collected and examined. In this phase the supervisor is going to be informed regularly around the progress made. If thesis jobs are done abroad students have to adjust to working conditions for example institutional hierarchy, ethics, dress code etcetera which are frequently not the same as Nederlander conditions.
Usually four to six days are necessary to write the ultimate report or paper. In close co-operation using the supervisor the selection for any report or paper is going to be made. - Preface (optional)
- Abstract (max 1 page)
- Introduction: problem definition, condition-of-the-art, theory/concepts, objectives, research questions
- Material Methods: this is their explanation problem was studied, which materials were utilised, kind of record analyses
- Results: what in which the findings?
- Discussion: Discuss your findings with individuals from literature, what exactly are good/less strong points inside your study
