1. What are the characteristics that may affect the pupils, who are taking Mother Tongue Filipino, in their achievement in English?

The perspectives of the teachers towards the characteristics of the respondents that may affect their English achievements are ethnicity, gender and age.

2. How does Mother Tongue influence the English literacy of the pupils in terms of:
2.1 Written English
2.2 Spoken English

The pupil’s literacy in terms of;
2.1 Written English the pupils’ literacy became high.
2.2 Spoken English the pupils’ fluency in English is quite low.

3. How do the teachers’ strategies affect the achievement of pupils’ in the English language?

The teacher’s strategy in teaching mother tongue affects the pupils’ achievement in English language.

4. In learning language, how do the pupils use MTB-MLE to understand their lesson in English?

In learning language, the pupils use MTB-MLE to understand their lesson in English, in terms of translation and comprehension.

Scope and Delimitations of the Study
The study is limited to the perspectives of the primary grade teachers of Sto. Rosario Elementary School towards the effects of Filipino Mother Tongue to the fluency, comprehension and translation in both oral and written English of their primary grade pupils.
