MPhil/PhD Scholarships

The Tertiary Education Commission yearly awards numerous Scholarships to vibrant undergraduate students to attempt research at MPhil/PhD on the full-time basis in the College of Mauritius (UoM), College of Technology, Mauritius (UTM) and Universit plusieurs Mascareignes (UdM).

1. TEC advertises the scholarships within the press as well as on its website.
2. Applicants are needed to fill a loan application form and submit same along with their research proposal too a duplicate of the secondary and publish-secondary qualifications.
3. Applicants must provide proof of getting guaranteed a seat for MPhil/PhD at any of these openly-funded universities.
4. When the awards are created, beneficiary is needed to sign a bond using the TEC.

1. The Scholarship covers: a yearly tuition up to and including more Rs 75,000 along with a monthly stipend: MPhil – Rs 16,500 PhD – Rs 18,300.
2. Tuition and monthly stipends are credited towards the banking account of awardees.
3. For payment of stipends, awardees must submit a progress report each month towards the TEC supplying proof of progress regarding the study and attendance as needed through the MPhil/PhD research.
4. For payment of annual tuition, the awardee must submit a yearly progress report of his/her MPhil/PhD research certified by his/her supervisor.

• A beneficiary is granted an optimum duration of four years to accomplish his/her PhD, that’s 2 yrs for MPhil and the other 2 yrs for PhD.
• No extension of scholarship is supplied.

1. For interruption of studies or upgrading from MPhil to PhD, the recommendations from the College is needed.
2. If unconditionally whatsoever the awardee decides to destroy, terminate, exit or customize the programme of studies prior to the expiry from the bond, for reasons not acceptable towards the TEC, he/she’ll repay towards the TEC the entire amount received according from the Postgraduate Scholarship plus a 5% interest around the amount cashed, within twelve months in the date of notification.

The conclusion date from the Scholarship will automatically get to function as the date of submission from the MPhil or PhD thesis or even the expiration from the Bond, whichever is earlier.

All MPhil/PhD Scholarships awardees are needed:

1. to write a minimum of 2 research papers in worldwide peer-reviewed journals throughout their scholarship.
2. to complete a minimum of 2 dental presentations at workshops/workshops/conferences one in the finish of MPhil and the second in the finish of PhD and also to inform the TEC, accordingly. Copies from the research publications and also the conference papers/proceedings ought to be posted towards the TEC, as evidence.
3. to submit a gentle copy of the dissertation towards the TEC after finishing their studies, within 30 days from the final correction of the thesis.
