The Writing Support Center offers a number of services for GSEP students and school, including review and assistance with writing papers, dissertation manuscripts, along with other projects. Individual appointments can be created by contacting the Writing Support Center (see below). Additionally, writing workshops and APA workshops are scheduled each term in the graduate campuses.

An email about plagiarism: Plagiarism is generally understood within the academic community to involve using the ideas or words of some other and passing them off as a person’s own. When paraphrasing or quoting a writer directly, you have to credit the origin appropriately. Plagiarism isn’t tolerated in the Graduate School of your practice and Psychology.

Writing Workshops – Spring 2012*

APA Format: Covers the fundamentals of APA including margins, title page, citations and references.

Preparing Your Dissertation for APA Review. Particularly tailored for dissertation students, this workshop covers topics including needs for lent materials (tables/figures, etc.), direct quotes versus paraphrasing, page numbering, margins, appendixes, table of contents needs, and much more.

Summary of Scholarly Writing: One step-by-step method of writing graduate-level research, including selecting scholarly sources, adequately narrowing a subject, creating a thesis statement, synthesizing literature, achieving coherence, and writing a highly effective introduction and conclusion.
