The Writing Support Center offers a number of services for GSEP students and school, including review and assistance with writing papers, dissertation manuscripts, along with other projects. Individual appointments can be created by contacting the Writing Support Center (see below). Additionally, writing workshops and APA workshops are scheduled each term in the graduate campuses.

An email about plagiarism: Plagiarism is generally understood within the academic community to involve using the ideas or words of some other and passing them off as a person’s own. When paraphrasing or quoting a writer directly, you have to credit the origin appropriately. Plagiarism isn’t tolerated in the Graduate School of your practice and Psychology.

Writing Workshops – Spring 2012*

APA Format: Covers the fundamentals of APA including margins, title page, citations and references.

Preparing Your Dissertation for APA Review. Particularly tailored for dissertation students, this workshop covers topics including needs for lent materials (tables/figures, etc.), direct quotes versus paraphrasing, page numbering, margins, appendixes, table of contents needs, and much more.

Summary of Scholarly Writing: One step-by-step method of writing graduate-level research, including selecting scholarly sources, adequately narrowing a subject, creating a thesis statement, synthesizing literature, achieving coherence, and writing a highly effective introduction and conclusion.

Becoming Your Personal Editor: Six Steps to Effective Revision: A hands-on workshop around the editing process: checking and revising your projects for coherence and clearness. Please bring a printed of the current or recent paperfor any class assignment.

Turnitin Instructions – TurnItIn is a computer program that enables you to definitely look at your research papers and dissertations digitally against all Internet and digitized documents to make sure sufficient quoting, paraphrasing, and referencing. The program has become open to all GSEP students through Courses operated by Sakai, so that you can now individually look at your documents and stop plagiarism.

• ESL Grammar Resource Site (Rong Chang Lee, Ph.D) – has many info on common regions of concern for ESL students, having a concentrate on grammar and elegance.

• Capital College Foundation ESL Grammar Quiz Site. an extensive assortment of grammar quizzes targeted at identifying and remedying common grammar issues each quiz represents another section of focus.
