The GRAMMY Foundation has launched its 16th Annual Entertainment Law Initiative Writing Competition, co-backed through the Aba. A considerable cash scholarship of $5,000 is going to be awarded towards the author from the winning paper and $1,500 is going to be awarded to each one of the four runners-up. Furthermore, each champion will get airfare, hotels along with a ticket towards the 56th Annual GRAMMY Awards, which is held at Staples Center in La on Jan. 26, 2014, and broadcast live at 8 p.m. ET/PT around the CBS Television Network, in addition to invitations with other GRAMMY Week activities, such as the esteemed annual ELI Lunch on Jan. 24.
The ELI Writing Competition invites law students to create a 3,000-word paper on the compelling legal subject facing the background music industry today. To inspire applications, the GRAMMY Foundation hosts ELI Writing Competition workshops at prominent law schools round the country with the aim of helping students using their essays.
The winning student authors will show their essays in the ELI Lunch. Past lunch keynote loudspeakers include Tom Brokaw, Edgar Bronfman Junior. Clive Davis, Daniel Ek, Timothy J. Leiweke, and GRAMMY Foundation Board member will.i.am, amongst others.
