FSU Creative Writing Presents

The Favourite Poem Project is devoted to celebrating, documenting and inspiring poetry’s role in Americans’ lives. Robert Pinsky, the 39th Poet Laureate from the U . s . States, founded the favourite Poem Project soon after the Library of Congress hired him towards the publish in 1997. This excellent voice for poetry in the usa is going to be getting a multimedia poetry performance to FSU, featuring readings by people from the Tallahassee artistic community, project founder Robert Pinsky, FSU’s own Erin Belieu, in addition to video in the archives from the Favorite Poem Project. The wedding is free of charge and available to the general public. Please come along for a night of poetry that shouldn’t be missed.

We’re very happy with our graduated pupils, the lifeblood in our program. No creative writing program in the united states continues to be incorporated more frequently in Harcourt’s Best New American Voices. Recent graduates have printed books with Hyperion, Norton, Viking, MacAdam/Cage, Penguin, Henry Holt, Simon Schuster, Copper Gorge, Houghton Mifflin, and many college presses. Our students have printed in The Atlantic Monthly, Esquire, The Southern Review, Harper’s, Ploughshares, and lots of other distinguished magazines, in addition to continue reading NPR’s This American Existence. Our poets go onto capture major national poetry prizes leading to book publication, such as the Prairie Schooner Book Prize, the Agha Shahid Ali Prize in Poetry, and also the Brittingham Poetry Prize.
