If this is indeed what happens, I’m certain that Shepard will be having a personal conversation with the Illusive Man very early in Mass Effect 3. Perhaps even as early as when he escapes Earth. I imagine that the conversation will be about how to deal with the Reapers and help ensure Humanity’s survival. This is where the conflict will probably begin. Whereas the Illusive Man might believe that collaboration is the only answer, Shepard’s will instead be ‘we fight or we die’. The Illusive Man will believe that Shepard is dooming the Human Race, and Shepard will believe that the Illusive Man is indoctrinated and/or selling Humanity out.
Note – this was written *before* the Game Informer article. Wow. Just wow.
Whoever wrote that dissertation, I bow in front of his amount of foresight!

I haven't read the Game Informer article! I've steered clear of most spoilers.
I didn't want it 'corrupting' my writing of these.

(Note, that is not comparing the writing of Mass Effect to the plays of Shakespeare.
but seriously, well stated.

And that is why I bow before your powers of analytical thinking.
Excellent read and it feels like a lot of research went into writing. Multiple Kudos!

I'm really enjoying your work, good sir.
I really appreciate how you don't just dismiss that which you disagree with, but tactfully and intelligently break it down. You broke down a couple ideas I had in my head so logically, that they will forever be broke. Now I don't understand how those ideas came to be.
It's so thought provoking that I find myself enjoying your dissertation more than replaying the game.

This dissertation is essentially an academic reading of a media text, kinda what all humantities are, not a making up of the story to explain the game.
Here I couldn't help myself. I have the mind of a mental midget and this typo just made me giggle. And I'm 36! Haha!

Thanks for the comment!
I'm really looking forward to posting 'The Reapers' article in the coming weeks. I've been working at that on and off for the last six months. Haha.

Is there any ME3 spoilers in the blog?
