PhDs defying criteria to not be recognised
Islamabad, Jan 12: Greater Education Commission (HEC) won’t recognise individuals PhD levels, that do not fulfil the HEC quality criteria and therefore are awarded after This summer 1, 2009.

The Commission, in the 21st meeting held here Monday in the HEC Secretariat, noted with concern that despite the presence of obvious cut criteria for obtaining the PhD degree along with a passage in excess of 4 years from the initial approval, some institutions have awarded PhD levels in breach of HEC’s PhD award criteria.

VC calling the shots despite expiry of contract
Peshawar: The vice-chancellor of NWFP Farming College is performing tests and interviews of candidates for various posts even though his contract continues to be expired, sources say.

They alleged that vice-chancellor violated the college statutes by looking into making appointments on several posts after expiry of his contract. “The tenure of Stated Khan Khalil as vice-chancellor of NWFP Agriculture College continues to be ended on The month of january 2, 2010, but he’s still running the matters from the college and taking important decisions, that is illegal and from the rules,” sources stated.

NWFP Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani, also chancellor from the public sector universities, has neither issued notification of appointing him as acting vice-chancellor after expiry of his tenure nor issued order concerning the continuation of his services.
