All Georgia Tech theses and dissertations can be found digitally with the Georgia Tech institutional repository, SMARTech. Theses and dissertations printed 2004 to the current are freely accessible. Individuals printed just before 2004 are for sale to the Georgia Tech community only, unless of course permission to ensure they are freely available continues to be provided by the writer (to allow permission to produce your projects worldwide, contact the SMARTech Team ).

The SMARTech ETD collection also includes dissertations printed just before 2005 in the former Institute of Paper Science.

Submitting a Thesis or Dissertation :

Georgia Tech Policy:

Electronic submission of theses and dissertations continues to be mandatory since spring 2004. All degree candidates must submit their final work digitally. Georgia Institute of Technology policy claims that Doctorate and Master’s Theses should be freely printed which Georgia Tech is granted a non-exclusive license to distribute and preserve the types of materials for educational purposes. Students must submit the SMARTech Repository Agreement form when submitting all theses and dissertations. Upon the request from the student along with the consent from the student’s consultant, an ETD can routinely be withheld from circulation for just one year.

Research plans that will preclude publication to have an extended time or permanently for reasons of national security or perhaps a sponsor’s proprietary interest, however, aren’t suitable for dissertations or theses. It’s anticipated that doctorate work and a lot of master’s research is going to be printed on view, refereed literature.

Doctorate students may want to submit their dissertations to ProQuest Dissertation Abstracts for processing and distribution. Authors selecting this method may connect to the ProQuest Dissertation Publishing – Authors site to learn more or to get the appropriate agreement form.
