Preparation of figures for papers/thesis?

Be it been written somewhere, can someone point me where there’s helpful techniques for producing figures from 2D plots?

I’m using COMSOL 4.2a, and also apply certain surface plots alongside legends within the colour tables used. It’s bizarre that COMSOL doesn’t provide vector graphics export. I’ve attempted to produce a decent image when using the png export (using the ‘snapshot’ button — maybe there is every other way?), but it’s horrible.

Enjoy that, I have had a similar darn problem. In versions 3.5 minimizing COMSOL permitted to export 2D graphics as eps format, then under 4.x they eliminated that, expect for 1D line plots, dumb proceed operator. I suppose you can plot the estimate Matlab and save as eps there, but that’s a discomfort, additionally to you might want to export geometry as being a vector graphics.

Appreciate comments and suggestions. During this situation I suggest trying a smaller sized Dots per inch, because this would create a bigger image (a Dots per inch setting of 1200 along with a width of 4096 pixels produces a picture roughly 3 inches wide).

I exported my plots to Matlab, however i’m not able to save the plat as being a vector image. The .eps always creates a pixel figure. Has someone an idea a couple of a few things i making wrong.
